Which courses and/or programmes does BBS offer for exchange students?
At both Bachelor and Master level there are several courses to choose from within Business Administration and Tourism.

What degree will I receive after graduation?
You will not be able to get a Bachelor degree from BBS, since we do not give entire Bachelor programmes taught in English.

If you choose one of our two Master programmes you will have a Master of Science (one year) with a major in Business Administration.

 

What is the duration of the exchange period?
Either one semester or one academic year of full time studies (Spring term: last week of August – mid January,  Autumn term: Mid January - first week of June)

 

How does the admission process work?
A complete application includes
1. Application Form
2. ECTS Learning Agreement
3. Accommodation Form (if you wish for the University to arrange with housing for you).

 

If you are applying for courses on a master level (D-level) you must also submit your CV, Motivation Letter and Transcript of Records.

If you are applying for the course Glassdesign you must submit your portfolio, including a Motivation Letter.

 

Application deadline:
10 May for admission to autumn semester
15 October for admission to spring semester

 

What is the language of instruction?
The courses are taught in English.

Do you offer Swedish language course?
Yes. The University of Kalmar offers an A-level Swedish language course for exchange students.

 

Are there any additional fees as an exchange student?
Membership
All students are required to pay approximately 250 SEK for a Student Union membership fee to the local Student Union.

 

What is the cost of the Literature?
Books and syllabuses as literature are frequently used during lectures. Students can expect to spend approximately 4000 SEK on books and study materials for the whole academic year.

You can choose to buy your books at “Akademiebokhandeln” in Kalmar, on the internet (for example www.amazon.com») or search for second-hand literature at the ”information wall” across the BBS Reception Desk. Compendia and syllabuses can be bought at the BBS Reception Desk.

What are the approximately living costs in Kalmar?
Approximately 2500 SEK a month.

 

Can I apply for scholarship?
No scholarships are awarded by the Baltic Business School. Students are encouraged to apply personally for funding from institutions in Sweden and elsewhere. There are a limited number of scholarships provided by the Swedish Institute.

 

What about public transport in Kalmar?
There is good bus transportation in Kalmar but the most usual way to transport is by bicycle as the distances are rather short. You can buy a second-hand bike for approximately 500 SEK.
